Renesas to Expand Design Center in Vietnam
June 30, 2006
Japanese Renesas, a joint venture between Hitachi and Mitsubishi, announced on June 29 that it plans to enhance its IC design capabilities in Vietnam by constructing a new building and adding manpower at its Ho Chi Minh City facility with an investment of US$30 million. The new building is expected to start operations in September 2007, and will increase the number of engineers from the current 100 to 500. The design center, established in 2004, is specialized in developing and designing SoC (system-on-chip) hardware and software for use in mobile, automotive and digital consumer applications.
